“WAEC Project 60” Records Success As Council Releases WASSCE 2017 Results Within 60 Days

The West African Examination Council (WAEC), has redeemed its earlier promise to release results of the WASSCE for school candidates within 60 days after the last paper is written, even as it assured stakeholders that 2017 results will be released on or before Wednesday, July 19, 2017.

This reassurance was contained in a statement signed by the council’s Head of Public Affairs (Nigeria), Mr. Demianus G. Ojijeogu on Thursday July 13, and made availbale to PEARL.

The new standard result method which is tagged ‘Project 60’ is aimed at improving the quality of service delivery in the educational sector. It would be recalled that results from previous diets of the examination were released after 90 days.

Here is the statement in full:

“The West African Examinations Council’s resolve to improve on its service delivery to its stakeholders this year led to the emergence of #Project60 in March 2017.

The Head of National Office of the Council in Nigeria, Mr. Olu Isaac Adenipekun made this proclamation on March 16, 2017 during the 65th Anniversary Celebration of the establishment of the flagship organisation.

The Project was an innovation designed by the Management of the Council in Nigeria to reduce the waiting period by the nation for the release of results of candidates from 90days to 60days after the conduct of the examination for this diet, and to 45 days in subsequent West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) diets.

‘Project 60’ was a huge success in its maiden edition with the conduct, marking, processing and release of the results of the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2017 because all hands were on deck to ensure the achievement of this great feat.

The Management of the Council in Nigeria wish to express our sincere gratitude to the entire Staff, Supervisors, Invigilators, Examiners and other ad-hoc personnel for their dedication, selfless service and immense contributions during the conduct of the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2017 and the marking of the scripts of the examination that  guaranteed the success of ‘Project 60’.

We also wish to inform our stakeholders and the nation at large that the waiting period for the release of the results of the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2017 is over as the results will be released on or before Wednesday, July 19, 2017.”
