Ward Meetings: Rep Akinlaja Visits Constituency, Honours SS3 Miss Gloria For Success in Quiz Competition

Hon Joseph Iranola Akinlaja today (October 20, 2017) at Ward 7 of his constituency in Ondo East Local Government of Ondo State honoured a female SSS 3 student of Ogo-Oluwa Community Secondary School, Ugwuoke Glory who came first among her peers in a quiz competition tagged, ”Panacea For Social Unrest”.

The event coincided with the Ward meeting Akinlaja had earlier planned to attend with his numerous supporters on his return from Abuja after a week long legislative oversight functions. Akinlaja is currently Chairman House committee on Petroleum Resources Downstream, his committee has been probing kerosine explosion, scarcity and the integrity of various depots in the country as well as traffic gridlock on the Apapa corridor of Lagos State which is taking serious toll on the nation’s economy .

Speaking on the achievement of the teenager, (Miss Glory) and the glory she has brought to the community, Akinlaja in company of his wife, (Mrs. Queen Philomena Akinlaja) and legislative aides said; ”I am happy for you and more importantly, I feel so great that this good news emanated from this Ward which is within my constituency. Don’t relent and I believe subsequently you will not only do this community proud but the entire nation.

Continuing, the federal parliamentarian said, ”I see education as a very vital tool that is used in the contemporary world to succeed. It is important because it is used to mitigate most of the challenges faced in life. The knowledge that is attained through education helps open doors to a lot of opportunities for better prospects in career growth. You have started well and God will see you through in your academic pursuits.”

He however, expressed appreciation to everyone in attendance at the meeting and assured them that he will not renege in his campaign promises.

Similarly at Ward 8 in Ondo West Local Government, the venue was fully decorated in honour of the vibrant lawmaker. Working in line with scheduled time, several supporters, loyal party members and friends of the amiable parliamentarian arrived at the venue to witness the official visit.

It was a proud moment for Hon Akinlaja to count his visible achievements and giant strides which have positive socio-economic impacts in the lives of the constituents that cut across Wards and Units in both Ondo East and West Local Governments Areas. There was a loud cheer from the crowd when the youths, senior citizens and the women folks expressed satisfaction on Akinlaja’s quality representation and achievements.
 
In a carnival-like atmosphere, the local talking drummers thrilled the crowd beyond imagination with their unique melodic, free flowing, inspirational, danceable beats, and Akinlaja too was equal to the task as he offered good dance steps to complement the efforts of the drummers. Also, the weather was so pleasant and friendly as the mother nature failed to drop any water from heaven neither was the sun unbearable.

The crowd however applauded the honourable member for helping them previously in securing 300KVA transformer, though made fresh appeal for another transformer, they disclosed that the older transformer is out of use as a result of ‘overloading’.

They equally complained bitterly that they are now in darkness for more than three months and admonished Hon Akinlaja to use his federal strength and connection to facilitate rural electrification to the area and called for quick intervention to restore power so that their businesses which depend on power supply will not collapse permanently. The lawmaker in his response disclosed that the available transformers had already been given out to other communities within his constituency.
He as well said he wont promise what he can not do but their demands will be looked into and by God’s grace the outcome would be positive in record time.
