A member representing Ondo East and West Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Joseph Akinlaja was today described as an uncommon pillar of sports in Ondo City at a ceremony marking the end of AKINLAJA “UNITY CUP” which started November 24, 2017 and ended today, December 15.
The commendations were dropped on Friday during the final match between Prestige Football Club Bolorunduro and New Generation Club Fagbo, a local tournament financed and supported by the federal lawmaker.
The youths on the auspices of Akinlaja Youth Movement further stressed that the Member House of Representatives (MHR) has greatly encouraged and supported the youth, making them to be actively involved in sports which they said are critical to character building with the qualities of hard work, vision for excellence, team spirit, simplicity, friendship and sportmanship, for the good of society.
They further acknowledged Hon. Akinlaja’s consistent and unrepentant zeal in empowering the youths of his constituency and preparing them for a fulfilling and rewarding career through sports, which is specifically aimed at sustaining peaceful co-existence among the youths and keeping them out of unproductive and defiant behaviours.
According to them, the football empowerment initiative is capable of adding value and ultimately reaching out to the grassroots to harvest, celebrate and reward promising youths who are willing to build talents and skills and ultimately to get their ways through to a position of dominance and relevance, not just in Ondo State but at the global scene.
