Unknown hoodlums on Wednesday invaded the Senate chambers during a session and took away the mace.
Deputy Senate President, Dr Ike Ekeremadu was presiding when the incident happened.
There was confusion in the chambers as Senators scampered for safety.
Unconfirmed reports have it that the fierce looking men who invaded the Senate during plenary are supporters of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, representing Delta Central, populated by the Urhobo in protest of his suspension.
The senate had on April 12, 2018 suspended Omo-Agege during plenary over his remarks that the amendment of the 2010 Electoral Act, which changes the sequence of elections set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari.
