Ondo State born human rights activist and legal luminary, Dr Kayode Ajulo has joined other high profile Nigerians to felicitate with Chief Edwin Clark at his 91st birthday anniversary in Abuja.
The one-time Labour Party scribe in a concise message personally signed by him on behalf of his law firm, Kayode Ajulo & Co. Castle of Law described Chief Clark as an elder statesman, quintessential lawyer, selfless Leader of Niger Delta and crusader rights and justice in Nigeria.
The astute and dogged legal icon in his words said, “We heartily and proudly celebrate with an elder statesman, quintessential lawyer, selfless Leader of Niger Delta and crusader rights & justice in Nigeria, Chief (Dr) Senator Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON as he clocks 91 Years today.
May the Almighty continue guard and guide his aright. Happy Birthday, Gogorogo!.” The statement concluded
Chief Clark a former information federal minister in 1975 is a recipient of several awards and honours, he was born on May 25, 1927 in Erhuwaren town in Jeremi Clan in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta state.
As chief image maker of government, he was one of the ministers detailed by the Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon to sell the idea of ECOWAS to governments in the region and indeed travelled to Senegal, Gambia, Mali, Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso), Mauritania, amongst others, to invite the Heads of States to the maiden summit.
Chief Clark also witnessed a federal system in which the federating units had control over their resources and agreed to surrender some powers to the centre on matters which were better handled by the centre, such as defence, foreign policy, and immigration among others.
