The Deputy Speaker, Ondo state House of Assembly, Ogundeji Iroju has been impeached by the legislators.
Iroju, who represents Odigbo Constituency was impeached by his colleagues at the plenary session on Tuesday.
The impeachment notice was moved by Fatai Olootu from Akoko North East Constituency and seconded by Malachi Coker representing Ilaje Constituency 2
Olootu while moving the motion for the impeachment, said Iroju was impeached for allegedly being in conflict with the speaker.
Besides,he alleged that the lawmaker was not transparent on issue of finances in the Assembly.
Ogundeji ,who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) alongside the Speaker and few others last year was also accused of being rude to the Speaker and caused embarrassment to the Assembly.
He was immediately replaced by the lawmaker representing Bimbo Fajolu of Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo constituency after he was swore in by Oloyeloogun.
Fajolu’s nomination as deputy speaker was moved by Isreal Olajide, and was seconded by erstwhile Speaker, Jumoke Akindele. The new deputy speaker was simultaenously sworn in by the Clerk of the House, Mr Bode Adeyelu.
